A serious traffic incident occurred Friday afternoon on southbound Highway 99 in Sacramento, resulting in critical injuries to four individuals. According to the Sacramento Fire Department, the vehicle involved rolled multiple times before striking a pole near the Interstate 5 interchange.
The accident caused traffic congestion in the area, with vehicles moving at reduced speeds while emergency responders conducted operations from the western shoulder of the highway.
Emergency services were dispatched promptly to the scene. All four occupants of the vehicle sustained critical injuries in the collision.

A 25-year-old Sacramento man lost his life following a severe two-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 5 in the Anderson area early Tuesday morning, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. near Balls Ferry Road when a white Jeep SUV traveling at high velocity struck a blue Mazda sedan from behind. The Mazda, operated by a 64-year-old Washington resident, was forced into the center divide, while the impact sent the Jeep through a guardrail before rolling down an adjacent embankment.
Emergency responders pronounced the Jeep’s driver deceased at the scene. Two additional passengers in the vehicle, Sacramento residents aged 16 and 18, sustained varying degrees of trauma. The younger passenger received treatment for minor injuries, while the 18-year-old suffered more significant injuries. Both teenagers were transported to Mercy Medical Center for medical attention.
The driver of the Mazda sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the crash site. Preliminary investigation findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have contributed to the collision.
California Highway Patrol has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
